Rosamund Pike

Born in 1979 in London, England, actress Rosamund Mary Elizabeth Pike is the sole child of a classical violinist mother, Caroline (Friend), and an opera father of a singer, Julian Pike. The couple worked hard and she travelled extensively throughout Europe in her early years. Pike was born in Bristol and attended Badminton School. She then began her acting career at the National Youth Theatre. Pike first appeared in the National Youth Theatre production "Romeo and Juliet". She was signed by an agent following being discovered. Pike also began acting at the National Youth Theatre. Although her first film was a high-budget action film, her performances were mostly in smaller independent films , such as Promised Land (2004) and The Libertine (2004). The Libertine won her the Best Supporting Actress Award at The British Independent Film Awards for the film. Pride & Prejudice (2005) was her first feature film. After a brief time in Hollywood, Doom (2005) and Fracture (2006) followed. She returned to film, delivering outstanding performances in three smaller films. She also appeared in Johnny English Reborn (2011) and the sci-fi action Wrath of the Titans (2012). She was back in action films as the female lead alongside Tom Cruise in Jack Reacher (2012).
