Sofia Margarita Vergara

Sofia Margarita Vergara (Spanish:, born July 10, 1972) is a Colombian-American actress TV producer, presenter and model. Vergara was the highest-paid actress in American television from 2013 until 2020. Vergara rose in prominence as host of two programs on Univision's Spanish-language television network in the latter part of the 1990s. Chasing Papi (2003) was her first role in a major role in English. After that, she was in Four Brothers (2005), Tyler Perry's Comedies Meet the Browns (2008) and Madea Goes to Jail (2009, which received an ALMA Award nomination). In 2009, she started as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on the ABC comedy series Modern Family for which she was nominated for four Golden Globe Awards, four Primetime Emmy Awards, and eleven Screen Actors Guild Awards.Vergara also played roles in the films The Smurfs (2011), New Year's Eve (2011), The Three Stooges (2012), Machete Kills (2013), Fading Gigolo (2013) Chef (2014) as well as Hot Pursuit (2015). Her voice-over roles included Happy Feet Two (2011) and Escape from Planet Earth (2013). She was also in The Emoji Movie (2017). Vergara was the highest-paid Hollywood actress in 2020[citation neededfor 2020[citation needed]. Since 2020, Vergara has been a judge on America's Got Talent. Vergara was born into a Roman Catholic family from Barranquilla. Her mother Margarita Vergara was a homemaker while her father Julio Enrique Vergara Robayo was a cattle rancher. In the eyes of her five siblings and numerous cousins, she was named "Toti". Vergara was an undergraduate at National University of Colombia in dentistry. She left after two semesters to pursue modeling opportunities and show business.
