Amy Carlson

Born in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, Amy Carlson spent most of her childhood in the Chicago area. But at the time Amy was in junior high, she and her family also resided in the Middle East where her parents, Bob and Barb, taught at the American School. Amy has three siblings: sisters Betsy and Lori and brother Joe. Amy has traveled across Europe together with her family and alone. Since her parents worked as teachers and teachers, they could travel together every summer, and camping across the United States. In reality, they've been camping in every state, with the exception of Alaska. Amy went to Rwanda to aid in relief efforts after the war in 1994. Early on, Amy showed artistic talent acting in school productions as well as winning writing contests. High school was where she excelled as an athlete and was the first to participate in the ever 3200 meter relay for girls in the Illinois track. Following an injury, she returned to college and was a part of the stage, starting with Lanford Wilson's "Fifth July” and later directing Wallace Shawn's "Aunt Daniel and Lemon. Amy attended Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois and graduated cum laude with an B.A. in East Asian history and a concentration in Theater. After graduation, she moved to Chicago where she studied Improv at the Improv Olympic. She also took acting classes at The Actor's Center. A job as a contract actress on the now-defunct soap show Another World (1964) moved her to NYC soon after graduation. She was nominated for the "Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Daytime Drama Series" category for the Daytime Emmy Award. Her most memorable roles were those played by strong women, like Alex Taylor in Third Watch (1999), Maggie Pistone ((2000)), Katie Owen and Tom Berenger in Peacemakers(2003) and Linda Reagan in Blue Bloods(2003). Carlson currently resides in New York City together with Syd Butler (bassist of Les Savy Fav), and she is part-owner of Frenchkiss Records. Amy continues to pursue her passions on films and write.
