Milena Govich

Milena Govich, a writer and actor, has directed many episodes of TV including Chicago Med (2015), The Equalizer (2021), FBI The Most Wanted(2020), Chicago Fire (2012), and others. She also served as Co-EP/Producing Director on Dick Wolf's CBS series FBI (2018) and is currently directing two pilots currently in development. Milena was among eight filmmakers selected for AFI's prestigious Directing Workshop for Women, in addition to the only Sony Pictures Television Diverse Directors Program. Unspeakable is her short film and television series proof of concept, was shown at SXSW. It also won Best Episodic Award at the Seattle International Film Festival, and Best Pilot at SoHo International Film Festival. The film she made in the short form Temporary (2017 directed by Milena Vandervoort) has been screened across the United States. It won the award for Best Narrative Short at Anthem Film Festival and Best Dark Comedy at Atlanta ShortsFest. The Director's Choice Award was also given out at Sedona International Film Festival. Milena has appeared in more than 100 television episodes as an actor. She first gained national attention in CBS's Love Monkey (2006), then as the prostitute/con-artist Candy on three seasons of Rescue Me (2004) (Denis Leary/FX). She also appeared on the Dick Wolf series Conviction (2006) and was the catalyst for her role as the initial and the only female detective on the Emmy-winning TV series Law & Order (1990). The actress has appeared on in a number of other shows, including K-Ville (2007) (Fox); The Defenders (2010) (CBS); Make It or Break It (2009) (ABC Family) and as Lori Stevens on the MTV drama Finding Carter (2014). Milena also appeared in several films, including Sordid Things (2008); A Novel Romance (2011) in which she starred alongside Steve Guttenberg; Pass the Light (2015) and #Lucky Number (2015). She also appeared in a movie with Method Man. Born in Norman, Oklahoma, Milena was valedictorian at her high school. She then completed two majors in vocal performance and pre-med with minors in dance and violin at the University of Central Oklahoma, and also being valedictorian of her graduation. Then, she capitalized on her ballet and classical training to perform on Broadway in the production by Rob Marshall and Sam Mendes of 'Cabaret' in Studio 54.
