Naomi Watts

 

Naomi Ellen Watts was born 28 September 1968. She made her film debut in Australia in For Love Alone (1986), followed by three television shows: Hey Dad.. (1990), Brides of Christ (911) and Home and Away (1991) and Flirting (1991). After arriving in the United States, Watts initially was not a successful actress, playing roles in smaller-scale films until she starred in David Lynch's psychological thriller Mulholland Drive in 2001 as an aspiring actress. Her fame grew internationally for this role. Watts was then cast as a depressed journalist in the horror remake The Ring (2002). The film was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance as a grieving mother in the Alejandro film 21 Grams (2003). Watts's profile continued to rise by playing starring roles in I Heart Huckabees (2004), King Kong (2005), Eastern Promises (2007), and The International (2009). Watts was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress for her part in The Impossible (2012) as Maria Bennett. In the decade between 2010 and 2011, Watts appeared in films such as Birdman (2014) St. Vincent (2014) St. Vincent (2015), While We're Young (2016), The Glass Castle (2017) and Luce (2018). Watts was also a major character in blockbuster movies, appearing in Divergent (2015)-2016.
